The Lake Wales Museum is looking for volunteers. Are you looking for a way to give back to the community and use your skills and talents? Do you love history, sharing stories, and being with others? Then, you’re the perfect volunteer for the Lake Wales Museum.
Since reopening in May of 2016, the museum has launched a new permanent historical exhibit featuring the history of Lakes Wales, the city’s pioneer stories, railway diorama, and a fully-restored 1926 Seaboard Air Line Railroad caboose, and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with free admission.
Volunteers are needed to help answer the phone, greet visitors, and sell small gifts. The museum is self-guided, but we encourage questions from visitors as they experience the exhibits. A small gift shop features local-styled t-shirts, souvenirs, jewelry and children’s items. The museum has also undertaken a complete inventory and catalog of our entire permanent collection. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals to help us file, record, and organize our collections. Other opportunities for volunteers include special events, programs and maintenance projects throughout the year.
To volunteer, fill out and submit an application by the link to the right. For more information, please visit us at the museum or call us at 863.676.1759.
