CITY ELECTIONS
Adminstration of City Elections
The City Clerk is the Chief Elections Officer of the City and conducts all city elections.
Date of Elections
City elections are always held on the first Tuesday in April.
Polling Place
The polling place for city elections is in the Municipal Administration Building, 201 W. Central Avenue. All registered voters residing in the city will vote for city commission, mayor and local issues at this location regardless of where they vote in county, state or national elections.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee ballots for city elections are issued by the Polk County Supervisor of Elections. A voter seeking to vote by absentee ballot must contact the Polk County Elections Office to obtain a ballot.

Voter Registration
The City has adopted the permanent single registration system for the registration of electors established by Sec. 97.105, Florida Statutes. All individuals residing within the city limits and legally registered to vote in accordance with Chapter 97, Florida Statutes are qualified to vote in city elections. However, no individual residing within the city limits who registers to vote less than 29 days prior to any city election will be eligible to vote in that election.
Voter registration forms may be obtained at the following locations in Lake Wales:
- Municipal Administration Building, 201 W. Central Avenue
- Lake Wales Public Library, 290 Cypress Gardens Lane
- Florida Dept. of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, 343 W. Central Avenue
The Polk County Supervisor of Elections maintains voter registration records and issues a Voter Identification Card to each registered voter.
