Jones-Sprott-Busbee House
3 North Lake Shore Boulevard
Built 1914

A broad eight-bay veranda wraps the sides of this frame vernacular residence. The gable end of a rather steeply pitched roof faces the street. The front facade of the building offers an unusual division of windows beneath the roofline.

In the progression of vernacular residential design from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries, buildings assumed increasingly horizontal proportions. This residence reflects the vertical emphasis common to an earlier period.
