Free library cards are available to anyone who: owns or rents property (business or residential)* has a valid library card from Osceola County or any library that participates in the Tampa Bay Library Cooperative's reciprocal borrowing program is a current student at any Florida institution of higher learning or technical school. Student ID or current registration is required Temporary library cards are available to those who are visiting Polk County for one (1) month or less. There is a $35 refundable deposit for a temporary card. * *Please see Circulation Policy for full details and restrictions The first time a patron uses his or her library card, he or she may check out up to four items. After those items are returned, patrons are allowed to have up to 20 items checked out at a time with a limit of five audiovisual items (CD's, DVD's, audiobooks, etc.). Items are normally checked out for two weeks at a time, unless other arrangements are made with the circulation staff.  If items are checked out via Books by Mail, the check out time is six weeks.
