Open Knitting and Crochet

The Lake Wales Public Library sponsors Open Knitting & Crochet every Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.

Opening Knitting & Crochet is a gathering of fiber crafters of all experience level who enjoy the company and encouragement of others. There is no charge for this program.

The Open Knitting & Crochet group creates and collects 7" x 9" blocks for the Warm Up America Project. The first Friday of each month is set aside to create the blocks, but they are collected at any time from anyone.

Yoga

The Lake Wales Public Library hosts two weekly yoga classes. Both are led by Certified Yoga Instructors.

Classes meet each Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 to 6:45 pm in the Lake Wales Public Library's Meeting Room. Wear loose-fitting clothing and bring water if desired. No prior experience is needed. All skill levels are welcome.

Class fees are $10 for a single class, $32 for 4 classes, $60 for 8 classes or $100 for 15 classes. Class fees may be paid at the City of Lake Wales Cashier's Office, 201 West Central Avenue, Lake Wales. Cash, checks or major credit cards are accepted. Payments of cash or check may be made at class.

Monday Evening Yoga Instructor:

Kelly Bogle

Kelley Bogle has practiced yoga for over 20 years. She was certified to teach by Yoga and Health Center of Orlando in 2003. Yoga is her passion. She loves to explore different schools of thought and pulls her knowledge and practice from them. Her classes typically last 90 minutes, starting with breath training and warm up, and end always with relaxation and meditation practice.



Wednesday Evening Yoga Instructor:

Eileen Katz, BS/Med

Eileen Katz is a certified yoga instructor with over 10 years experience. She specializes in Kripalu Yoga, which is a form of Hatha Yoga, and she studied at the Kripalu Center. Kripalu is the practice of physical postures combined with conscious breathing, relaxation, and meditation.  Eileen is also an Inspiration Community Yoga teacher, a Phoenix Rising Yoga therapist, and an Integrative Breathing practitioner.

eReader Support
                                Group
This small group meets every Thursday at 2:30 PM for hands-on assistance with the library's downloadable eReader library collection, OverDrive.

If you'd like assistance in learning the basics of using your eReader, or if you'd like to learn some of the 'tricks' to using OverDrive to check out materials, join us for a half hour, small group session.


No registration is necessary. It's advisable the you call ahead to make sure the group is meeting. Before attending make sure your library membership is in good standing and has not expired due to lack of borrowing print materials. Also, Kindle users should know their Amazon.com login and password.




Polk Works

The Polk Works Mobile One-Stop unit will provide a variety of services to job-seekers each month at the Lake Wales Public Library.

 

Polk Works Mobile One-Stop Bus will be at the library the first Tuesday of each month, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  The bus will be parked in the Lake Wales Public Library’s main parking lot.

 

The unit allows individuals to search for jobs online, prepare resumes and submit applications for open positions.

 

Polk Works staff will provide all services that are available in the Winter Haven and Lakeland Polk Works offices.  Trained job counselors will assess job-seekers’ skills, assist in job searching and application preparation as well as provide a variety of counseling services.  Additionally, Polk Works counselors will assist with updating unemployment benefits applications, Employ Florida profiles and other government assistance.

 

All Polk Works services are free of charge.  The Mobile One-Stop unit has a full computer lab to assist job-seekers.
