The Lake Wales Main Street Program

Lake Wales Main Street continues the mission of making Downtown Lake Wales a viable place for business. The program utilizes the proven four-point method called the Main Street Approach. It consists of:

• Organization - Coordination of separate civic, citizen and public organizations to work more effectively for downtown improvments.
• Promotion - Creation of a positive image that will attract customers and investors to the Downtown area. This includes the devleopment of well-planned events and festivals.
• Design - Enhancement of the visual quality of buildings, storefronts, signs, public improvements, landscaping, merchandising displats and promotional materials.
• Economic Restructuring - Improvement of the economic base of the Downtown by strengthening existing business, recruiting new businesses and filling vacancies.

More than a marketplace, Downtown Lake Wales has historically been the center of civic and social activity reflecting the community's values and pride.

Today, Lake Wales operates an ambitious and successful Main Street program with a focus on continuous revitalization of the heart of the City. The program recognizes that the best way to preserve the community's heritage is to restore its historic and traditional downtown as a working, living and profitable economic center.
