Free water conservation kits are available to homeowners. The kit includes:
- 1 low-flow shower head
- 2 standard low-flow sink aerators
- 1 kitchen sink aerator
- 2 toilet leak detection tablet packets
- Installation instructions and water conservation tips
Standard shower heads use 2.5 gallons per minute (gpm). A home with a low-flow shower head uses 1.5 gpm, saving around one gallon of water for every minute the shower is running.
Faucet/sink aerators are more variable, but typically use 2.2 gpm. A home with a low-flow faucet/sink aerator would save 1.2 gpm in the bathroom and 0.7 gpm in the kitchen.
